GUIDE TO INSTALLING CATIA V5 HELP DOCUMENTATION
Background
Often users install CATIA V5 without help documentation as this speeds up the installation process. You can, however, install CATIA V5 help documentation after CATIA V5 has already been installed. The documentation can be installed on each individual machine or on a shared location such as a server. We recommend that if there are a large number of CATIA V5 users, then installing on a shared location would be best suited. Having the CATIA V5 help documentation allows the user to access the help files through CATIA V5. The help files provide information on basic tasks, advanced tasks, glossaries, customization (toolbars, standards, and settings), and more.
Steps
- Download the help documentation media from software.3ds.com
Note: For instructions on downloading media, please see the “Downloading Media” guide. - Once the media has been downloaded, right click on the downloaded zip folder and select “Extract all”. Open the extracted folder and run the file called “setup.exe”.

- An installation dialogue box will pop up after running the setup.exe file. Keep all default settings as is and simply click next. If custom settings are required, these can be changed as necessary.
- Continue until reaching the final page where you click on “Install”.
This will begin the CATIA V5 help documentation installation. - Once the installation has been completed, you should be able to access the help documentation from within V5.

- If you are unable to access the help documentation from within CATIA V5, you will have to manually change the pointing directory from within CATIA V5.
- In CATIA V5, select “Tools” > “Options” > “General” and then select the “Help” tab.

- Next to the “Location” field, select browse. This will open up your file explorer.
- Navigate to “Program files” > “Dassault Systemes” > then select a folder which will be in the form of “B33doc”. The number will depend on the year version. For example 2023 help documentation will be B33doc, or 2024 help documentation will be B34doc.

- After selecting this folder, you will be able to access the help documentation from within CATIA V5.
