GUIDE TO OBTAINING A DSLS COMPUTER ID
Background
A Dassault Systèmes License Server (DSLS) tool is used to supply licences to Dassault Systèmes software, including CATIA, ENOVIA, DELMIA and SIMULIA.The licence itself can be CONCURRENT (server based), SHAREABLE (server based) or NODELOCKED (local machine based). The licence file is generated using a unique key called the PC-ID, which is derived from the MAC address of the physical network adapter. The PC-ID must be provided when applying for a new licence and must be for the machine that the licence will be issued to.
Steps
- On the computer you are trying to obtain the PC-ID for, disconnect any non-essential cables from the PC, such as USB sticks or docking stations.
- Ensure that you are connected to the internet in the same way you usually will be when using Dassault software. E.g. If you usually use an ethernet cable, plug it into the PC and ensure you are disconnected from Wi-Fi.
- Download the DSLS PC-ID extraction tool.
- Browse to the directory where the extraction tool has been downloaded.
- Right-click on the .zip file and select Extract All...

- Place the files on the user’s desktop and select Show extracted files when complete before selecting Extract.

- The extracted folder will contain two files. Open the “dslictarget.cmd” file.

- This will generate a text file called “DSLS-PCID.txt” on the local desktop.
Please send this file to the requester. Be sure to specify what your preferred network connection is (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) when sending the file.

- If the text file was generated and sent through to the requester, then there is nothing left to do. However, if you are having difficulty with the text file being generated, please proceed to the following steps.
- In the Start menu, type “cmd” and open the Command Prompt.

- With the command prompt open, drag the previously extracted file
“DSLicTarget.exe” into the command prompt dashboard and on the same line type “-l” (SPACEBAR, DASH, l) and then press “Enter.” - This will generate a list of available networks. Copy this list and paste the list into a .txt file and send it to the requester. Be sure to specify what your preferred network connection is (Ethernet or WIFI) when sending the file.
